Marriott Bonvoy and United Airlines (MileagePlus) have brought back their Dual Currency offer for summer 2026. Registration is open July 1 – August 31, 2026, and the travel window runs July 15 – September 30, 2026.
Eligible members — Bonvoy Titanium Elite / Ambassador Elite on the Marriott side, and MileagePlus Premier Gold / Premier Platinum / Premier 1K / Global Services on the United side — can earn 2,000 Bonvoy points + 1,500 MileagePlus miles per matched stay+flight during the period.
This sits under the two brands’ Preferred Partnership Program (formerly RewardsPlus). The hook is that stays and flights must be paired — you earn per pair, not per stay independently and per flight independently.

Reward Tiers & The Pairing Rule (Core Mechanic)
This is where most people miscalculate. You do NOT get “N stays → N × 2,000” and “M flights → M × 1,500” independently. Instead:
Eligible Flights vs. Eligible Stays are matched 1:1; total payouts = the smaller number × (2,000 pts + 1,500 mi).

Key takeaway: If you’re doing 7 Marriott nights and 4 UA segments, you only get credit for 4 pairs. The other 3 nights are “naked” stays. This is the single biggest math mistake people make with Dual Currency.

Two Easy Traps
Trap 1: Bonvoy earning preference must be “Points”
If your Bonvoy account is set to “earn miles” (stay → UA miles), you are disqualified entirely from this promo even if everything else lines up. Switch back to “Marriott Bonvoy Points” before your first eligible stay.
Trap 2: One Dual Currency per calendar year
Marriott + United only allow one Dual Currency campaign per member per calendar year. If you register for this Jul–Sep 2026 round, you’re locked out of any other Dual Currency wave in 2026 (they usually run 1–2 per year; T&Cs hard-cap at one).

Stacking Ideas (Web Context)
- With UA Q3/Q4 promos: If UA runs a “every N segments = XXX bonus” or regional multiplier in parallel, the 1,500 mi/pair is stackable — T&Cs say “may be combined with other promos in market… earnings are exclusive of each other” meaning Dual Currency doesn’t stack with another Dual Currency in the same year, but stacks fine with external UA promos.
- With Bonvoy Q3 “2K every 2 nights”: Q3 pays base + 8K milestone on cash rates; Dual Currency’s 2,000 pts/pair is a separate line item. Both require cash stays, so a single cash stay can feed both — just watch the pairing cap.
- With shopping portals: Booking UA flights or Marriott stays via Rakuten Rebates / credit card shopping portals (Chase UR Shopping, Amex Offers, Citi, Capital One Shopping) is theoretically non-conflicting with Dual Currency (portal = cash rebate, Dual = loyalty currency). Posting Timeline
- Bonuses batch-post after the promotion period ends; T&Cs allow up to 12 weeks for full distribution
- UA side separately notes up to 8 weeks post-qualifying activity to MileagePlus account
- Each side disclaims responsibility for the other’s posting failures — keep stay confirmation emails + UA PNR + boarding passes in case a pair drops and you need to file a trace with the respective support desk
FAQ
Q1: Do stay and flight have to be on the same trip?
No. T&Cs explicitly say “whether they’re part of the same trip or separate trips.” A July paired stay+flight and an August paired stay+flight both count, as long as both fall in Jul 15–Sep 30 and are eligible.
Q2: Check-in Sep 30, check-out Oct 1 — eligible?
Yes. “Stay commences no later than Sep 30” — check-in date must be ≤ Sep 30; check-out can be October. Flights: first segment departure ≤ Sep 30.
Q3: Stays/flights completed before I registered — do they count?
Yes. Any eligible stay/flight completed during the travel window counts, even if registration happens after the stay/flight — as long as you register before Aug 31.
Q4: UA codeshare (e.g., LH metal, UA code) — eligible?
No. Must be United or United Express operated. Star Alliance partner metal doesn’t count even if it’s a 016 ticket.
Q5: Bonvoy Points & Cash — eligible stay?
No. Must be fully cash rate. Points & Cash is treated as award+top-up, excluded from this promo.
