IHG and United just relaunched the triple miles push: register Jul 8 – Sep 30, 2026, stay same window at participating IHG brands, and you’ll get 3X United MileagePlus miles on qualifying paid stays.
Both IHG One Rewards + MileagePlus membership required; you also need to switch your IHG earn preference to MileagePlus before check-in.
Registration page: IHG × United Triple Miles registration page

Key Dates & Requirements
- Register: Jul 8 – Sep 30, 2026 (both IHG One Rewards + MileagePlus members)
- Stay window: same interval, book + consume within it
- Channels: ihg.com, IHG App, call centre, hotel direct
- No cap: every qualifying stay in-window earns 3X, unlimited

How the Math Works (Read the Fine Print)
Mainstream brands: 2/USD → 6/USD
Default MileagePlus earn on IHG qual rates is 2 United miles per $1 USD (base). 3X = 2 base + 4 bonus = 6 United miles/USD. Covers InterContinental, Regent, Kimpton, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, HIEX, voco, Vignette, etc.
Example: $200 one-night stay at a mainstream brand ≈ 1,200 United miles ($200 × 6).
Candlewood Suites / Staybridge Suites exception: 1/USD → 3/USD
The two extended-stay flags earn 1 United mile/USD base, so 3X = 3 United miles/USD total. If you’re chasing maximum United miles per dollar, prioritize mainstream IHG flags over Candlewood/Staybridge for this promo.
LL flagged an incoherence in IHG’s own T&C example: the official T&C writes “$100 rate, 5 base/USD → 500 base + 1,000 bonus = 1,500 total (3X)”. But IHG×UA base is actually 2/USD (mainstream) or 1/USD (Candlewood/Staybridge) — there is no 5/USD bracket. The example numbers are mismatched; calculate your own using 2×3=6 or 1×3=3.
Two Things You Must Do Before Check-In
- Dual membership: IHG One Rewards + United MileagePlus.
- Switch IHG earn preference from “Points” to “United MileagePlus” in your IHG account before check-in, and make sure the member number is in the booking. If preference is still “Points”, that stay earns points only, no 3X miles (you can’t double-dip same stay).
Qualifying vs Non-Qualifying
- ✅ Qualifies: qual paid rates booked via ihg.com/App/direct channel
- ❌ Doesn’t: Reward Nights, Points+Cash, OTA prepaids (Booking.com/Expedia etc.) — these don’t earn base points, so they also don’t fire 3X
- Same-hotel consecutive: multi-checkout = 1 stay; non-consecutive may split. Two rooms same night = 3X on one room only.

Other IHG Moves to Stack This With
- Chase UR → IHG 100% transfer: live Jul 15–Jul 31 2026 (drops to 70% Aug 1–Aug 31). If you hold Chase Sapphire, drain UR in July, then lock these 3X UA stays — “UR points → IHG → UA miles via stay” is a neat double-dip for UA heavy routes.
- IHG buy-points 100% just ended Jul 16: 2026’s 5th buy-points round closed, so no “buy + stay” double this time — stick to UR transfer or straight USD earn.
- IHG Asia-Pacific Stop The Scroll: runs parallel (book by Aug 3, stay Jul 22–Dec 18, up to 30% off cash-side). Cash-heavy bookers take Stop The Scroll; mile-heavy bookers take this 3X UA — you can technically play both on separate stays.

How to Book Clean
- Confirm dual membership; in IHG account, switch earn preference to United MileagePlus and bind your MP number.
- Slot an IHG paid stay before Sep 30, book via ihg.com/App/direct, skip OTAs / award nights / Points+Cash.
- Prefer mainstream flags (IC, Kimpton, Indigo, CP, HI, HIEX, voco) over Candlewood/Staybridge if maximizing UA cpm — former does 6/USD, latter only 3/USD.
- Allow 6-8 weeks post-stay for miles to post (United side T&Cs); don’t schedule last-night-on-Sep-30 if you need miles urgently.
