IHG: 12% Points & Cash Sale 2026 — Stays Through August 10 (Book by July 27)

IHG One Rewards rolled out a targeted (or broadly accessible) Points & Cash 12% cash discount promo in late June 2026, emailed to selected members on June 30.

The booking window runs June 29 – July 27, 2026, and the stay window covers June 29 – August 10, 2026, right over the summer peak.

A quick clarification that trips up many newcomers: IHG doesn’t have “true” Points & Cash in the Hyatt/Marriott sense. What IHG calls Points & Cash is essentially: the system tells you a full-points redemption requires X points, you cover part with your existing balance and buy the rest on the spot at the displayed rate. The booking then processes as a full points award — not a hybrid cash+points night.

How IHG Points & Cash Actually Works

  1. When you select a Points & Cash rate, IHG shows: X pts in your account + Y pts to buy now = full award Z pts.
  2. At checkout, Y pts are purchased at the current buy rate (this promo: 12% off that cash portion).
  3. The stay posts as a full points redemption: earns elite qualifying nights and triggers milestones, but does NOT earn base cash points (since it’s an award).

Critical — Cancellation Policy:

  • If you cancel within the hotel’s policy, both your existing pts and the cash-purchased pts are refunded in points only.
  • The cash you paid for the purchased pts is NON-REfundable (per IHG T&Cs: “The cash used for the Points purchased is non-refundable”).

Translation: Points & Cash is best for trips you’re confident will happen. If your dates are shaky, a cash rate is safer.

Price Check: Is 0.525¢/pt a Good Deal?

Scenario Cost per Point Vs. Regular Buy
This promo 12% off 0.525¢ ~12.5% cheaper than ~0.60¢ regular
IHG regular buy (no promo) ~0.60¢ Baseline
IHG best-ever (100% bonus e.g. Black Fri) ~0.50¢ Bottom of the cycle

Verdict: 0.525¢ is decent — cheaper than everyday buy rate, but not as low as Black Friday / Cyber Monday 100% bonus (~0.50¢). If you already have summer IHG stays planned and are short on points, this is a clean way to top up. If you’re purely hoarding, wait for the next 100% bonus cycle.

How to Book

  1. Log into IHG One Rewards, search stay (check-in ≤ Aug 10).
  2. On the hotel page, select a Points & Cash rate (requires enough existing pts to cover the “existing” slice).
  3. Confirm the cash portion shows the 12% discount (if not visible, your account may not be targeted — check “Offers” tab).
  4. Complete payment (card charged for cash portion; pts deducted for existing slice + purchased slice).
  5. Save confirmation email.

Points & Cash vs. Regular IHG Buy-Points Promos

Factor Points & Cash 12% off (this) IHG 100% Bonus Buy (e.g. BF/CM)
Cost/pt ~0.525¢ ~0.50¢
Requires stay Yes (by Aug 10) No — pure buy
Output Uses existing pts + generates stay night Only builds point balance
Cancel risk Cash non-refundable (pts only back) Buy regret = no stay risk
Best for Existing pt holders w/ summer IHG travel Pure hoarding / future flexibility

Stacking Ideas (Web Context Additions)

  • IHG x Revolut Elite (UK): If you hold the £18/mo Revolut Elite (Platinum + 15 elite nights), P&C stays still earn elite nights. Pay the cash portion with Revolut Elite → earns IHG pts on the cash slice (3x/£1 UK/EEA). Good for pushing Diamond 70-night milestone (lounge pick).
  • vs. IHG Q3 “2K every 2 nights”: P&C is an award night → does NOT earn base cash pts AND typically doesn’t trigger the Q3 bonus either (Q3 requires cash-eligible rate). If you’re chasing the 8,000 Q3 bonus, book cash rates, not P&C.
  • vs. ALL Accor+ Explorer: Accor’s play is Stay Plus free nights + 30% dining; IHG P&C is better for “short on pts but want the stay + elite night” scenarios.

Terms & Reminders

  • Targeted: Not all accounts see the 12% tag. Check “Offers” in your account dashboard.
  • Time zones: Booking/cancel windows use the hotel’s local time zone — be mindful for cross-timezone bookings.
  • Currency: Non-USD displays are converted to USD equivalent at payment, then 12% off applied to the USD equivalent.
  • Annual buy cap: The “buy on the spot” slice counts toward IHG’s annual purchase cap (usually 200k base/yr). Heavy P&C users can hit this.

FAQ

Q1: I didn’t get the email. Can I still get the 12%?

Possibly not — this is a targeted drop. Some members see it by logging in and checking the Points & Cash rate page; others don’t. Check your “Offers” tab; IHG sometimes widens the net mid-cycle.

Q2: If I cancel, do I get the cash back?

No. Per T&Cs: cancel within policy → both existing pts and purchased pts refunded as pts only. Cash portion for purchased pts is non-refundable.

Q3: Is 0.525¢/pt the cheapest IHG ever?

No. Black Friday / Cyber Monday 100% bonus buys get to ~0.50¢. But 0.525 is solid vs. the ~0.60 everyday rate, especially if you need the stay now.

Q4: Do P&C nights earn IHG elite qualifying nights?

Yes. P&C processes as a full points award, so it earns elite nights and triggers milestones, but no base cash points / airline partner miles.

Q5: Can I use this for any IHG hotel?

Any hotel participating in IHG Reward Nights (InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, voco, Indigo, Even, Avid, etc.) — a few resorts/third-party-managed properties may be excluded; check the booking page.
